RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Culture and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Indonesia held Cultural Evening dubbed "A Musical Bridge Between Morocco & Indonesia, Harmony Of Heritage, Rhythm Of Unity". The event was held at the Culture Ministry HQ in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

In the opening remarks, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Indonesia, Redouane Houssaini, affirmed the event was more than just music, but about celebration of friendship. "A friendship founded on mutual respect and trust, shared values and a deep appreciation for the richness of our respective cultures," he said.

According to him, the Morrocan and Indonesian musicians shared a stage in the spirit of dialogue and creatvie harmony. The Ambassador believed that it was a living symbol of friendship that unites the two nations.

The Cultural Evening showcased performances from Indonesia and Morocco. The first performance was a poetry by Peri Sandi Huizche.

He recited a poem titled "Tanjung" or "Cape" in English, which was created by Taufiq Ismail - a famous poet of Indonesia. The poem was about Syekh Yusuf Almakassari, a religious figure as well as a freedom fighter.

After the poetry by Peri Sandi, a musical group called Muara went on the stage. The group Muara was playing a very ethnical instruments and musics from various regions across Indonesia.

The last performer was from Morocco, a group of musician called Tobouaa Al Ala, which consisted of three professors of music. The three played different instruments namely oud - a pear-shaped stringed instrument similar to guitar, qanun - a Middle-Eastern table harp, and darbouka - a goblet-shaped hand drum.

The Cultural Evening served not only music, but also dishes from Indonesia and Morocco. Some of them were bakwan malang, chicken satay, briouan allons, ghriyba wallnut, and many more.

The event was attended by various Indonesian high officials as well as representations of other countries. Among them were the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Anis Matta and Vice Minister of Culture Giring Ganesha.
