RRI.CO.ID, Purworejo - The Tosan Aji Museum is introducing a fresh way to present history to the public with the Prasama Miyara #2 Temporary Exhibition. Held from 13–15 July 2026 at the tennis court of the Pendopo complex in Purworejo Regency, Central Java, the exhibition is packaged interactively so visitors can learn history in a more engaging and enjoyable way.
Organized by the Purworejo Regency Education and Culture Agency, the exhibition features museum collections from Central Java and Yogyakarta Province. In addition to historical objects, the event includes arts performances and a variety of educational activities for students and the general public.
Purworejo Regent, Yuli Hastuti, praised the collaboration among museums in staging the exhibition. “The participation of museums from across Central Java and Yogyakarta Province shows real spirit of collaboration in preserving, introducing, and advancing culture to the public,” she said on Tuesday, 14 July 2026.
Under the theme Prasama Miyara, the exhibition invites the community to help preserve cultural heritage. “Our cultural heritage must be continuously cared for, introduced, and passed on so it remains alive and benefits future generations,” she added.
Yuli also noted that museums play an important role as learning spaces that foster pride in local history and culture. She commended the Tosan Aji Museum for its ongoing transformation into a modern, interactive, and inclusive institution, marked by its B accreditation.
Head of the Purworejo Education and Culture Agency, Yudhie Agung Prihatno, said the exhibition was designed as an educational medium combining history, arts, and science through visual and contextual presentation. With this concept, visitors do not only view the collections but are invited to engage directly with the stories behind each historical artifact.
“The presentation is visual and contextual to create a pleasant, recreational, and interactive space. This allows visitors to engage directly with past historical narratives at this tourist destination,” said Yudhie.
Through Prasama Miyara #2, the education and culture office hopes to increase public literacy in history and culture. The event is also expected to boost tourist visits and stimulate the local economy by involving micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). (Annaila Azzahra-EN)
