RRI.CO.ID, Tokyo - Indonesian musician Hindia won the Special Award: Indonesian Popular Music at Music Awards Japan 2026. The award was presented in Tokyo on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
The achievement highlighted Indonesia’s growing presence in Japan’s music industry and international creative scene. Hindia also strengthened that momentum through collaborative performances in Tokyo and Osaka.
During the globally broadcast award ceremony, Hindia performed his hit song Everything You Are. The performance featured Japanese-language lyric visuals displayed across the SGC Hall Ariake stage.
Indonesia's success was further marked by Silet Open Up’s song Tabola Bale. The track was nominated in the Best Song Asia category.
Hindia also joined songwriting workshops alongside Japanese musicians and other international artists. The activities were organized under the Music Awards Japan 2026 program.
Coordinator for Information and Socio-Cultural Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tokyo, Muhammad Al Aula, attended Hindia’s performance in Shibuya. He expressed support for Indonesian musicians expanding their reach in Japan.
He said the achievement reflects Indonesia’s strong musical quality and global adaptability. The following is his statement regarding the accomplishment.
“KBRI Tokyo congratulates Hindia on winning the Special Award, and Silet Open Up on its nomination at Music Awards Japan 2026. The presence of Indonesian musicians performing harmoniously on the same stage with Japanese and international bands is clear proof of the quality of Indonesian music that can adapt globally. KBRI Tokyo remains committed to fully supporting the dissemination and expansion of Indonesian music in the Japanese market,” he said.
Before the award ceremony, Hindia joined Japanese and international bands for collaborative concerts. The Tokyo performance sold out and attracted more than 600 audience members.
A similar response followed at the BIGCAT venue in Osaka. Audiences enjoyed dynamic musical collaborations that blended talents from different countries.
The achievements are expected to strengthen Indonesia’s creative industry presence internationally. They also support closer people-to-people relations between Indonesian and Japanese youth through music.
