RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Indonesia's Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, has expressed support for the Indonesian Cultural Performance MORSA (Traditional Music, Orchestra, and Literature) as an effort to strengthen the ecosystem of performing arts and literature in Indonesia. The support was conveyed when Fadli Zon received an audience with several cultural figures who are part of the MORSA team at the Ministry of Culture office in Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday.

During the meeting, Fadli said community-based activities play an important role in advancing culture while also encouraging the growth of the creative economy and empowering local culture. According to him, strengthening the literary ecosystem requires collaboration among various parties, ranging from the government and universities to cultural practitioners.

“The literary ecosystem certainly requires collaboration from all parties. There must be synergy from the government, in this case the Ministry of Culture, working together with universities to develop shared awareness,” Fadli said in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He stated that literary advancement is not only the responsibility of the government or cultural figures, but also of all elements of society. Fadli explained that the Indonesian Cultural Performance MORSA aligns with the Ministry of Culture’s vision of advancing literary culture through the National Talent Management (MTN) program.

According to him, the government also encourages activities that can improve education and literacy in the field of literature while expanding appreciation for works of art.

“In addition, we indeed have to build segments, for example by encouraging appreciation for artworks that can generate cooperation with related parties,” he said.

Meanwhile, cultural figure Bambang Oeban said MORSA was initiated as an effort to pass on the literary baton from maestros to the younger generation. According to him, MORSA serves as a platform for literary development packaged in a more creative and relevant way for today’s needs.

“MORSA is proof that literature can be packaged and developed as a modern necessity, incorporating theatrical elements, monologues, dramaturgy, and multimedia creativity,” Bambang said.
