RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Revenue from the Indonesian animation industry based on original intellectual property (IP) animation works has surged significantly, surpassing the revenue of exported service providers. IP-based animation revenue increased by 279.53% in 2025 compared to 2015.

According to a statement from the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, in Jakarta on May 19, 2026, Teuku stated that there were 308 active original animation works produced and distributed on various global platforms. This figure is based on the 2026 Indonesia Animation Report released by the Indonesian Animation Industry Association (AINAKI).

"The animation industry is a vital part of the creative economy, with great potential as a new engine of economic growth. This report serves as an important foundation for driving the industry's transformation toward a globally competitive intellectual property-based model," Teuku concluded.

Based on research of 262 animation studios with 3,448 employees, the Indonesian animation industry has shown significant growth, with an industry value reaching Rp. 798.15 billion by 2025, a more than 3.3-fold increase in 10 years with an average annual growth of 12.86%.

The Chairman of the Indonesian Animation Industry Association (AINAKI), Daryl Wilson, added that one of the report's key findings is that the animation services sector has a significant economic contribution, but has not been fully mapped optimally within the national economic framework, despite its significant potential to drive GDP growth and create jobs based on creative talent.

"Based on the mapping data, Indonesian studios are dominated by Java, but we see from this that pockets of human resources and industry players are everywhere. This means the government and associations can focus on creating programs that can be directly implemented in their regions," Daryl said.

The Head of the Research Center for Society and Culture at BRIN, Aulia Hadi, described the 2026 Indonesia Animation Report as a significant milestone in the national animation industry's journey. This report is the first comprehensive effort to simultaneously map all strategic dimensions of the Indonesian animation industry, starting with its industry structure.
