RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia's Ministry of Creative Economy launched the 5th World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2020 to strengthen the creative economy's position as a pillar of national economic growth. Through this forum, Indonesia also prepared the Jakarta Vision for Creative Economy document as a basis for establishing a creative economy policy agenda at the global level.
In a statement received by RRI VOI from the Ministry of Creative Economy on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, tated that the platform is not just a discussion forum, but a place to develop an international policy agenda. "The focus is on ensuring that the creative economy is a global priority with measurable outputs," Teuku conveyed.
The launch was attended by representatives from 27 ministries/institutions, 70 representatives from business associations, and 48 media representatives. Also in attendance were international organizations such as the British Council and the US-ASEAN Business Council, as well as representatives from friendly countries including the Philippines, Malaysia, and Russia.
The conference, to be held from October 21-23, 2026, at the Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO), Kemayoran, is targeted to involve approximately 80 countries. This forum brings together governments, international organizations, industry players, academics, and investors in a single platform that integrates policy formulation and business cooperation.
Since its inception in 2018, the WCCE has contributed to the adoption of two United Nations (UN) resolutions in 2019 and 2023. For the 2026 edition, Indonesia aims to develop the Jakarta Vision for Creative Economy as the basis for submitting a follow-up resolution to the UN General Assembly.
Themed "Inclusively Creative: Collective Continuity," the 2026 WCCE will feature a collaborative, cross-sectoral approach that combines policy forums, bilateral meetings, and business matching to generate concrete agreements and collaborations. One key component is the Creativillage, which serves as an integrated space for exhibitions, business interactions, and industry activities connected to Screenverse and Kulit Kreo.
Screenverse is an internationally integrated platform that connects screen-based industry ecosystems such as films, series, games, streaming, and digital content into a single collaborative space that brings together creators, studios, platforms, and investors to drive investment and distribution of works to the global market.
Meanwhile, KultKreo focuses on strengthening intellectual property (IP)-based creative economy talent through work development, copyright protection, and expanding market access, particularly in the fashion, music, and popular culture subsectors.
