The announcement, made on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, ensures that one of the province's most anticipated spectacles remains at the heart of the festivities.
The Acting Head of Disbudpar Central Kalimantan, Seniriaty, said that the 2026 edition of FBIM is tentatively scheduled to run from May 17 to May 22. The festival will feature approximately 12 major activities, with the cultural carnival serving as the primary draw for local residents and international tourists alike.
"There are about 12 activities, and the cultural carnival remains included," Seniriaty confirmed in Palangka Raya, as quoted by Antara.
Like previous years, FBIM 2026 has successfully secured its position in the Karisma Event Nusantara (KEN), the national tourism calendar curated by the Ministry of Tourism. This inclusion highlights the festival's strategic importance in driving the local economy and promoting regional tourism on a national scale.
Planning for the upcoming festival is currently underway, with several key highlights focusing on excellence and regional cooperation. The official schedule is being finalized through a process of curated programming to ensure the event delivers a high-quality experience that meets national KEN standards.
Furthermore, the carnival is set to be a spectacular cultural showcase, renowned for its vibrant displays of Dayak heritage, traditional costumes, and creative floats that represent the diverse identities of the Bumi Tambun Bungai region.
Seniriaty noted that the department is currently maturing the details of each event to ensure maximum impact for visitors. The cultural carnival is particularly famous for its ability to transform the streets of Palangka Raya into a living museum of Central Kalimantan’s rich ancestral traditions, making it a vital instrument for cultural preservation and economic revitalization. ***
