RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Francophonie Week 2026 officially concluded with a buffet featuring dishes from French-speaking countries at the Institut Français Indonésie in Jakarta on Friday, April 24, 2026. French Ambassador to Indonesia, Fabien Penone, opened the event alongside Romanian Ambassador to Indonesia, Dan Adrian Bălănescu.

In his remarks, Penone conveyed that this year’s activities successfully reached ten cities across Indonesia. These activities included cultural dialogues in various public spaces.

“Over the course of several days, more than 100 events were held in ten Indonesian cities, from Jakarta to Yogyakarta, from Surabaya to Makassar. Francophonie was present in film screening venues, universities, bookstores, as well as through cultural exchanges, literacy initiatives, and gatherings,” Penone said in French.

He also underscored a significant increase in the number of events compared to last year. This is seen as a positive sign for the development of the French-speaking community in Indonesia.

Penone said, “When I look at this year’s catalog, it’s thicker than the previous one. This is a very good sign, because it means that this year’s Francophonie is more festive than in previous years.”

After the opening remarks, Penone invited the guests to taste authentic dishes from Francophone countries. Bălănescu also introduced a traditional sweet treat from his country, offered to the guests.

Bălănescu stated, “Tonight, Romania is also participating in the buffet with some Boudoir biscuits.”

Based on the direct monitoring of RRI VOI at the event, the guests appeared enthusiastic as they enjoyed seafood dishes from the Seychelles, pampushky from Ukraine, madeleines from France, and trdelnik from Hungary. The atmosphere of the closing night grew even livelier with music from DJ Risky Rixx, who performed a set of popular songs.
