Indonesia-SM Entertainment Focuses on Enhancing Cooperation in Entertainment

RRI.CO.ID, Seoul — Indonesia’s Ambassador to South Korea, Cecep Herawan, met with SM Entertainment CEO Daniel Jang and CGO Mina Choi at the Indonesian Ambassador’s Residence in Seoul on Thursday, April 23, 2026, to discuss broader collaboration opportunities in the Indonesia–Korea creative industry sector.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul, Ali Andika Wardhana, focusing on strengthening cooperation in the entertainment sector, including investment, talent scouting, K-pop training, creative exchange, and merchandise collaboration.
During the meeting, Ambassador Cecep outlined various strategic opportunities ahead and encouraged SM Entertainment to explore film production, music videos, and other entertainment content projects in Indonesia.
SM Entertainment is a South Korean entertainment company that manages global artists such as Hearts2Hearts, EXO, and Super Junior, and is known for its wide global reach.
The meeting follows the directive of President Prabowo Subianto to strengthen creative industry cooperation between Indonesia and South Korea, including expanding K-pop collaboration in Indonesia and opening new opportunities for the national entertainment industry. Through this cooperation, Indonesia is expected to strengthen its position as a regional K-pop industry hub while fostering a broader creative ecosystem, ranging from production and distribution to global markets.
Previously, Indonesia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono said in a press conference on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, that President Prabowo Subianto aims to increase the number of K-pop concerts in Indonesia. The plan is being considered given the large number of K-pop fans in the country.
