RRI.CO.ID, Pangkalpinang - Deeply rooted in the soil of Belitung Island, in Bangka Belitung Province, the ancient tradition of Maras Taun was celebrated once again on Monday, April 6, 2026. This year, the sacred ritual was centered at the residence of Dukun (shaman) Ulim in Lassar Village, bringing together the Belitong Traditional Shaman Forum (FKAB) in a powerful display of spiritual gratitude and cultural endurance.

More than just a festival, Maras Taun is the island’s primary harvest ritual, serving as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. According to Chairman of the FKAB, Muktie Maharip, Maras Taun is a hereditary practice known locally as Selamat Kampung (the blessing of the village). It is a time for the community to offer collective thanks to the Creator for a successful harvest while seeking protection and harmony for the year ahead.

"This is our routine annual event. We are continuing the customs of old and will keep nurturing them to maintain harmony," Muktie explained, as quoted by Antara.

The tradition of Maras Taun is defined by several core pillars that are central to Belitung identity. The role of the dukun is paramount, as these village shamans (dukun kampung) serve as the sacred custodians of the rites, acting as spiritual mediators who ensure "village safety" through traditional prayers and symbolic offerings.
