RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Ministry of Culture is significantly amplifying the nation’s footprint in the international fine arts scene through the "Rising Currents" platform at Art Central Hong Kong (ACHK) 2026. This initiative marks a strategic phase of "International Recognition" under the National Talent Management (MTN) program for Arts and Culture.

The program aims to move beyond mere participation, focusing instead on building a sustainable cultural ecosystem that allows Indonesian artistic talent to resonate within the global contemporary landscape.

"The presence of ‘Rising Currents’ at Art Central Hong Kong 2026 marks an important step for MTN Arts and Culture in placing Indonesia’s fine arts ecosystem into the flow of global conversation," Minister of Culture Fadli Zon said in an official communication from Jakarta on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Minister Fadli Zon emphasized that strengthening the national fine arts ecosystem is a strategic component of Indonesia’s cultural advancement and diplomacy agenda. He asserted that the nation's art must become increasingly competitive and recognized on the world stage as Indonesia moves toward its "Golden Generation 2045" goal.

"Indonesia’s presence in ‘Rising Currents’ at Art Central Hong Kong 2026 is a confirmation that Indonesian fine arts must become more advanced, more competitive, and more considered on the world stage," the Minister added.

MTN Arts and Culture is a national priority program designed to scout, develop, and promote Indonesian talent in a structured manner. The "International Recognition" stage follows the initial "Nurturing and Development" phases, providing elite talents with access to global markets and capacity-building opportunities.

The "Rising Currents" platform features 17 elite Indonesian artists and eight Indonesian art galleries, representing the diversity of the nation's contemporary art practices.

Director General of Cultural Development, Utilization, and Guidance, Ahmad Mahendra noted that the initiative also strengthens the connectivity between galleries as essential nodes in the art ecosystem.
