RRI.CO.ID, Buleleng - The Buleleng Regency Administration in Bali celebrated the 422nd anniversary of Singaraja City with a massive cultural parade on Monday, March 30, 2026. Despite being drenched by sudden rainfall, the event drew thousands of residents and participants from all nine districts, transforming the streets into a vibrant tapestry of Balinese heritage and communal pride.
The parade, which serves as the pinnacle of the anniversary celebrations, was officially opened by Bali Governor Wayan Koster. The festivities began earlier on Saturday night, March 28, with a grand opening featuring legendary Gong Kebyar Mebarung and Joged Bumbung performances that packed the city center.
For Buleleng Regent I Nyoman Sutjidra, the parade is far more than mere entertainment; it is a historical reenactment of the city's origins. "This cultural parade is a journey of Ki Anglurah Panji Sakti and is part of the peak of the 422nd anniversary celebration of Singaraja," he explained, as quoted by Infopublik.id.
The Regent emphasized that the event acts as a vital platform to appreciate local artists and reinforce the role of culture in regional development.
The resilience of the Buleleng people was on full display as spectators refused to leave their spots despite the changing weather. Performers from each district delivered high-energy traditional arts, showcasing the unique identities of their respective regions.
"I feel proud to be part of this parade, because it is about bringing Buleleng's cultural identity to the wider community," said Ayu Febriani, one of the parade participants.
Visitors like Trisa Wiryaswari and Sandy Manggala shared similar sentiments, noting that the event was a rare opportunity to witness the full scale of Buleleng's artistic wealth.
"I intentionally came to spend my free time and see this extraordinary Buleleng cultural richness firsthand," Sandy remarked.
Beyond the music and dance, the 422nd anniversary serves as a moment of reflection for the city’s future. Governor Wayan Koster expressed his hopes that the momentum would drive tangible progress for both the regency and the province of Bali as a whole.
"I hope this momentum provides a real impact for Buleleng Regency and Bali, while simultaneously strengthening regional development," the Governor saidtated.
Local residents echoed this hope, with many, like Yudha Wiratama, wishing for Singaraja to become increasingly "advanced and competitive" in the years to come.
Through this celebration, the Buleleng administration reaffirms its commitment to preserving traditional values as a foundation for sustainable growth and social harmony. ***
