Goverment Wants Global Game Tournaments to Showcase Local Creatives

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Vice Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Irene Umar, discussed collaboration opportunities between PUBG MOBILE and Indonesian creative economy players as an effort to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem based on IP (Intellectual Property), technology, and community. The Deputy Minister of Creative Economy wants local Indonesian products to appear at every international event.

"We support and are ready to connect this gaming ecosystem with other sub-sectors, such as local fashion and culinary brands, so they can showcase their brands and collaborate at these major events. We want to ensure that every international gaming tournament provides a platform for authentic Indonesian creative products," Irene Umar conveyed during an audience with representatives from Level Infinite, the global publisher of PUBG MOBILE, at Autograph Tower, Jakarta on Thursday, 12 March 2026.

During the meeting, Level Infinite outlined plans for PUBG MOBILE's 8th anniversary celebration, which will be held in Surabaya, as well as plans for the PUBG MOBILE Global Open (PMGO) international tournament, scheduled for Jakarta this coming June. The series of activities includes esports competitions, community activations, and collaboration opportunities with various creative economy sub-sectors, including the PUBG MOBILE Pro League Indonesia (PMPL) Spring Grand Final, which will bring together professional teams from various regions in Indonesia.

The Minister of Creative Economy believes that the PUBG MOBILE anniversary celebrations can be an opportunity to strengthen collaboration betweeI in the global gaming industry and local creative economy players, particularly through merchandise development and collaborations with various national brands.

"Events like this open up a broad space for collaboration for Indonesian creative economy players. The Ministry of Creative Economy can play a role in bridging and curating local brands so they can collaborate with PUBG MOBILE," said Irene Umar.

The Deputy Minister added that this collaboration can be realized through various creative products that highlight Indonesian identity, such as special-edition merchandise for players and collaborative products accessible to the wider public.

"For example, through collaborations with local fashion brands that combine cultural elements like batik or woven fabrics with modern designs relevant to the gaming community. Furthermore, the series of events also has the potential to present various creative activations in public spaces, ranging from utilizing city landmarks and public transportation to collaborating with the hospitality sector to present thematic experiences inspired by PUBG MOBILE," Irene Umar said9.

Meanwhile, PUBG MOBILE Indonesia Country Manager, Agung Chaniago, stated that Indonesia has one of the largest PUBG MOBILE communities in the world. Through this 8th anniversary celebration, they want to provide a more intimate experience with the community while also opening up opportunities for collaboration with local creators and brands.

During the meeting, Agung Chaniago also explained that the celebration in Surabaya will also serve as the official announcement of PUBG Mobile's collaboration with Tahilalats. This collaboration is the result of a matching process facilitated by the Games Directorate of the Ministry of Creative Economy.
