RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia is centralizing its creative human resources through a unified, inter-agency database designed to formalize talent management and bridge the gap between local artists and the global creative economy. The initiative, known as National Talent Management (MTN), is the functional implementation of Presidential Regulation No. 108/2024.

As reported by Antara, this regulation serves as a master design for cross-sectoral talent governance. Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, emphasized that this integrated system is essential for creating a structured pathway for Indonesian creatives.

“Through National Talent Management, we are striving to present a talent management system that is inclusive, sustainable, and integrated with both national and global cultural ecosystems,” remarked the Minister in a written release received in Jakarta on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Current data from the Ministry of Culture indicates significant progress in this mapping effort, with nearly 37,000 cultural talents registered in the MTN system as of 2025. Of that figure, more than 5,700 individuals have transitioned into advanced coaching programs.

These initiatives are supported by 208 collaborative activities spread across 58 regencies and cities. They focus on comprehensive data collection and measurable development paths tailored to the needs of the global creative industry.

Minister Fadli specifically highlighted the burgeoning domestic film industry as a primary example of this growing competitiveness. He noted that Indonesian films have captured approximately 67 percent of the local market share over the past two years.

“Indonesian films are also increasingly active in participating in various international festivals such as Rotterdam, Berlinale, Udine, and Busan,” he remarked.

Beyond cinema, the MTN program extends to literature, music, fine arts, and performing arts. It facilitates the translation of literary works while fostering international collaborations.

The impact of this structured support is already visible on the world stage, with the MTN cultural division having executed 28 activities across 19 countries, garnering 116 international accolades. This includes Indonesia’s upcoming participation in the Venice Biennale, one of the world's most prestigious six-month art exhibitions.

Coordinated by the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), the integrated database is expected to serve as the primary instrument for mapping, developing, and linking national talent with elite global opportunities.

"The government hopes that National Talent Management can become an important foundation in building superior human resources," concluded the Minister. ***
