RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, expressed his appreciation for Layar Digi's collaboration with minimarkets in bringing innovative alternative screens through micro cinemas to various regions. This step is crucial for expanding access to national film distribution.

According to the Minister of Creative Economy, the micro cinema concept not only expands public access to Indonesian films but also strengthens the national film ecosystem. "Today, we are witnessing a new breakthrough. The presence of micro cinemas like Layar Digi is a solution for expanding market access and distribution of national films. This momentum is perfect when film production is increasing and public interest in watching national films is growing," Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky while attending the inauguration of Layar Digi Micro Cinema at Alfamart Agricola, Gading Serpong, Tangerang, on Thursday 5 March 2026.

Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya, believes the Indonesian film ecosystem has enormous potential, both in terms of production and audience interest. However, film distribution constraints remain a major challenge that must be overcome.

Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, gave a speech at the inauguration of the Digi Micro Cinema Screen at Alfamart Agricola, Gading Serpong Area, Tangerang, Thursday, 5 March 2026.

"If we observe, Indonesian film production has grown significantly. Around 176 films are produced annually, and the number of national filmgoers reached more than 80 million last year. This means that supply and demand already exist; the problem is distribution," Minister Teuku Riefky said.

He also stated that currently, approximately 20 percent of regencies or cities in Indonesia have access to cinemas. Given this situation, innovative cinema models like Layar Digi are considered to have great potential to reach areas that lack cinemas.

Layar Digi is a company that presents a new concept, the Micro Cinema, by utilizing the second floor of an Alfamart store as a mini cinema. With a modern design, comfortable seats, and high-quality screen and sound technology, this innovation is ready to bring the most immersive cinema experience to the community.

In addition to expanding access to entertainment, this initiative is also expected to encourage the growth of the creative economy in the regions, create new jobs, and strengthen the national film ecosystem from upstream to downstream.

Going forward, the Layar Digi micro cinema concept is planned to be expanded to various regions across Indonesia, utilizing strategic locations close to the community. This initiative is expected to provide a film distribution solution, strengthen Indonesian films' position as a homegrown film and increase their competitiveness in the global market.
