RRI.CO.ID, Singaraja - On a hilltop of Tajun Village, Kubutambahan Subdistrict, Buleleng Regency, Bali, stands a sacred building that radiates a magical aura and a spiritual coolness. Bukit Sinunggal Temple.

More than just a place of worship, the temple is a hub of North Bali's ancient history and holds stories of unity, steadfastness, and blessings for its people. The temple is historically associated with the reign of King Sri Kesari Varmadeva, founder of the Bedahulu Kingdom of the Warmadewa Dynasty, which ruled Bali from 882 to 914 AD.

Perched at an altitude of approximately 500 meters (1,640 feet) above sea level, visitors are treated to views of the lush green hills of Buleleng and the expansive northern coastline. To reach the main mandala, devotees (pemedek) must climb hundreds of steps. This journey is considered a symbol of purification before meeting Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa.

The deity worshiped at this temple is Ida Bhatara Lingsir Hyang Manik Astagina. The name 'Sinunggal' means uniting or aligning the mind or uniting the microcosm with the macrocosm. This symbolizes that at this peak, all prayers and requests converge toward one point: the Creator," said Jro Mangku Gede Dana.

In the temple area, there are giant, ancient trees that are believed to guard the supernatural realm of the surrounding hill. "If a tree falls, it's a sign of a bad omen, and something bad is about to happen. This has happened several times," he added.

Jro Mangku Gede Dana explained that many devotees come to Bukit Sinunggal Temple with specific intentions. "Many devotees who come to Bukit Sinunggal Temple have had their prayers granted, whether for healing or other special requests," he said.
