KBRN, Jakarta: The spirit of creative collaboration between Indonesia and Malaysia is strengthened through the Futura Connectiva 2025 event at the REXKL cultural center. A total of 14 Indonesian comic artists and animators will showcase their best works on December 12-14, 2025.
The exhibition was organized by the Indonesian Comics Association (AKSI) in collaboration with the Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Agency. The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur also gave its full support to the event.
“Futura Connectiva is a business matching event that brings us together with Malaysian creative industry players,” said AKSI Chairman Sunny Gho in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, December 13, 2025, as quoted by Antara.
He said the participants were well-known creators, including the creators of Si Juki and Tahilalats. In addition to these two big names, the event also featured creators such as Aisha Tomodachi, Bandits of Batavia, Bhayangkara, Elang Jawa, GOGOR, JANISARIS, Ki Gentar, KILLSTARTER, MC Bunny, Milk Mocha Bear, Sayuti, and Tomket.
Each work reflects the uniqueness of Indonesian culture through modern and adaptive visual media.
According to Sunny, this event not only introduces works but also opens up cross-border business opportunities. “We hope that Indonesian comic artists and animators will be increasingly accepted in the international market,” he said.
KBRI Kuala Lumpur Minister Counselor, Hendra Purnama Iskandar, considers this event a form of support for creative economy players in the comic and publishing sector. “The works of these Indonesian artists are a source of pride and have begun to be accepted in Malaysia,” said Hendra.
He explained that creative products can strengthen relations between Indonesia and Malaysia. “Perhaps the character Sayuti could collaborate with Upin Ipin or BoBoiBoy to bring out the spirit of togetherness between the two countries,” he added.
Visitors to the event were treated to an immersive performance featuring animations and interactive visuals by Indonesian artists. In addition, the Malaysian public could purchase original comics and merchandise directly at the exhibition venue. ***
