For the Dayak people, an indigenous community in Kalimantan, the dragon head symbolizes strength, protection, and balance in nature. In traditional beliefs, dragons are often associated with guardians of the universe who provide protection to humans.

Handika Danuarta, an artist from Murung Raya Regency, Central Kalimantan, said that wooden dragon head carvings are typically used in various cultural contexts, such as decorations on traditional Betang (traditional) houses, ritual equipment, or as art pieces sold to tourists.

In addition, the motifs are very distinctive, featuring details such as scales, coiled horns, and a dignified facial expression. The wooden dragon head carvings are created through a complex process, starting with the selection of wood, sketching the initial design, and then carving the details using traditional tools.
