RRI.CO.ID, Solok – Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, visited Arosuka Regional General Hospital in Solok Regency, West Sumatra, on Friday, September 25, 2026, to review the treatment of victims of the flash floods. During the visit, he called for injured victims to receive medical treatment until they fully recover and stressed the need to ensure that affected communities have access to adequate healthcare services throughout the emergency response period.

According to the Indonesian Vice Presidential Secretariat, the visit was part of efforts to ensure the flood response in Solok remains focused on protecting residents, searching for people who are still missing, meeting basic needs, and restoring public access. Vice President Gibran emphasized that emergency response efforts in the field must be coordinated, swift, and responsive to the needs of affected communities.

"I want you to receive the best possible treatment. The government will ensure your medical needs are met, including any further treatment or referral. I hope you recover soon and can return to your families," he said.

In addition to focusing on injured victims, Gibran called on healthcare workers to anticipate various diseases that could emerge following the floods. He said this could be done by ensuring adequate supplies of medicines, providing vitamins to residents, and strengthening healthcare services for people staying at evacuation centers.

"Anticipate post-flood diseases, including diarrhea, skin diseases, dengue fever, wound infections, and others. I hope the hospital prepares adequate supplies of medicine and provides vitamins to residents at evacuation posts to strengthen their immunity," he said.

Gibran further stressed that healthcare services should not only be provided to people who visit hospitals, but should also actively reach residents staying at evacuation centers or independent shelters. Special attention should also be given to vulnerable groups, including pregnant women, older people, people with disabilities, and children who require further monitoring and assistance.

"Prioritize vulnerable groups, not only those who come to hospitals but also those in evacuation centers. Monitor them regularly and visit evacuation posts and independent shelters," he said.

During the visit, Gibran also spoke with a patient who suffered a wrist injury in the disaster. According to the doctor, the patient had suffered a fractured wrist and had undergone a repositioning procedure. Gibran wished the patient a speedy recovery and checked that she was receiving proper medical care.

“Get well soon, Ma’am. If you have any complaints later, consult the hospital,” Gibran said.

According to the Vice Presidential Secretariat, the visit underscored the importance of ensuring that healthcare services remain available as part of the emergency disaster response, including through active outreach to affected communities. Coordination between the central government, local authorities, and healthcare workers is continuing to be strengthened to ensure that residents' medical needs are met through the recovery phase.
