Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria Completes Three Day Visit to West Nusa Tenggara

RRI.CO.ID, Mataram - Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden completed a three-day official visit to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Monday, September 7, 2026, inspecting sustainable development and disaster recovery programs in her capacity as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Welcomed upon arrival at Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport (Bizam) in Central Lombok by NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, the heir to the Swedish throne toured community and infrastructure projects across the island from September 5 to 7. Her itinerary in North Lombok included visits to SMKN 1 Pemenang vocational school and Pemenang Public Health Center (Puskesmas) to examine post-2018 earthquake reconstruction, as well as dialogue with Sajang Village farmers on agricultural recovery and irrigation systems.

The Crown Princess also reviewed blue economy initiatives, coastal ecosystem protections, and coral reef insurance programs designed to blend marine tourism with environmental conservation. Regional officials emphasized that her visit reinforces NTB's growing international profile, building on recent diplomatic engagements such as the Indonesia Gastrodiplomacy Series and visits by foreign ambassadors and global development ministers.

Regional administration leaders expressed gratitude to the Swedish Royal Court, the UNDP, and central government agencies for fostering long-term international development partnerships across the province.

"This is our opportunity to present NTB to the world, the presence of Crown Princess Victoria brings NTB to a different level of international engagement. She arrived not only as the successor to King Carl XVI Gustaf, but also as an ambassador for the UNDP," Lalu said in Mataram on Monday, September 7, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He detailed the underlying focus of the joint programs established across Lombok. "Her Royal Highness observed firsthand how sustainable development agendas are translated into real action on the ground, particularly blue economy development, coastal ecosystem protection, and coral reef insurance," Lalu added.

The Governor expressed appreciation to international partners and local residents for facilitating the high-level delegation. He said that the programs established after the earthquake have not only aided recovery but also restored hope for the community to build their future.
