RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government is advancing plans for smarter urban water management by exploring technology cooperation with Shenzhen Water Group, part of a broader agenda during its visit to China.
“Jakarta faces pressing urban challenges, while Shenzhen brings proven experience and innovation,” Jakarta’s Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and SMEs Agency (PPKUKM) Head Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo said in an official statement on Saturday, September 5, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
"We hope this connection grows into knowledge‑sharing, technical cooperation, and technology transfer," Elisabeth added.
The exploratory talks, held alongside PAM Jaya in Shenzhen, focused on smart water management solutions, including the use of Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve distribution efficiency and reduce non‑revenue water losses.
Shenzhen’s track record in technology‑driven urban infrastructure is seen as relevant to Jakarta’s transformation agenda toward becoming a more digital, resilient, and sustainable city.
The initiative coincides with Jakarta’s participation in the China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair (CISMEF) 2026 in Guangzhou, a platform that connects governments, businesses, and investors across the Asia‑Pacific.
CISMEF also forms part of the lead‑up to the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Shenzhen this November.
For Jakarta, the momentum of CISMEF and APEC is not only about expanding market access for SMEs but also about building strategic partnerships in technology and urban infrastructure. ***
