RRI.CO.ID, Pamekasan - The Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Service Post (P4MI) in Pamekasan Regency, East Java, has facilitated the repatriation of 78 undocumented Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) from Madura Island following deportation by foreign authorities.
The repatriations, recorded from January through July 28, 2026, primarily involved individuals who traveled and worked abroad through non-procedural or illegal channels.
"The number of migrant workers forcibly repatriated from their workplaces reflects data from January up to July 28, 2026," said P4MI Pamekasan Coordinator Rendra Infan Kurnianto in Pamekasan on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Out of the 78 repatriated workers, 76 individuals were deported from Malaysia after being detained in local immigration sweeps and completing mandatory legal proceedings, while two other workers were returned from other countries.
"On average, they departed illegally through brokers or non-procedural channels. After being detained by Malaysian immigration authorities and undergoing legal processes, they were deported back to Indonesia," Rendra added.
In light of the ongoing deportations, protection agency officials issued strong appeals to local residents, emphasizing the risks associated with unverified overseas employment offers.
Rendra urged prospective workers across Madura to utilize official channels and verify employment opportunities through municipal manpower offices or local P4MI stations before departing.
"We advise the public not to be easily tempted by unclear job offers abroad. Ensure that all information is confirmed beforehand with the Manpower Office or P4MI so that departure is conducted procedurally and safely," Rendra stressed. ***
