Badung-Japan’s Fujisawa Expand Partnership in Tourism and Coastal Management

RRI.CI.ID, Badung - The Badung Regency Administration in Bali is moving to expand its bilateral partnership with the City of Fujisawa in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, targeting joint programs in cultural exchange, sustainable tourism, and integrated coastal zone management.
The initiative was discussed during an official meeting between Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa and representatives from the Shonan-Bali Friendship Association at the Badung Administration Center in Mangupura on Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Regent Adi Arnawa noted that cultural and tourism ties between Badung and Fujisawa have been actively cultivated since 2024, highlighted by annual cultural showcases such as the Enoshima Bali Sunset event, which is scheduled to return in October 2026.
Highlighting geographical and economic similarities between both coastal tourism hubs, the regency administration plans to formalize broader cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) followed by technical Cooperation Agreements (PKS).
Proposed collaboration areas include destination marketing, artist and cultural exchanges, human resource development, student exchange programs, and academic partnerships between educational institutions.
In addition to cultural promotion, municipal leaders emphasized the value of knowledge-sharing regarding coastal preservation and marine environmental challenges. Adi Arnawa expressed keen interest in learning from Fujisawa's urban and environmental governance strategies along its coastline.
“We also want to share experiences while learning from Fujisawa, especially regarding beach area management, abrasion control, and efforts to maintain beach cleanliness,” he said on Thursday, July 23, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Adi Arnawa confirmed that technical implementation will be coordinated through the Badung Cultural Agency, Tourism Agency, and Cooperation Division to ensure targeted execution.
Chairperson of the Shonan-Bali Friendship Association, Hasegawa Ami, added that the delegation's visit aimed to strengthen bilateral friendship while conducting an in-depth study of Badung's tourism ecosystem for future collaborative projects. ***
