Jakarta Free Transport & Health to Ensure Elderly Citizen Living

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Administration reaffirmed its commitment to improving the quality of life for older residents by providing a range of free public services.
Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, said that in addition to cash assistance through the Jakarta Elderly Card (KLJ), free public transportation and health services are being provided so seniors in Jakarta can enjoy a healthy, active, and secure old age.
However, he stressed that the program is not available to financially able elderly people. “There are eligibility requirements. Some elderly people, excuse me, who are financially able, whose families can provide for them, are not eligible to receive the Elderly Card. Those in need will be prioritized,” said the Governor in North Jakarta on Tuesday, 14 July 2026.
To date, he said roughly 168,497 elderly residents of Jakarta have already benefited from the Elderly Card. As reported by Antara, registrations to obtain the KLJ remain open. Residents who have not yet received the card are encouraged to register soon to access the benefits.
Through the card, eligible seniors receive social assistance in the form of a monthly cash payment of IDR 300,000 (USD 18.50).
Beyond cash assistance, the Jakarta Provincial Administration also offers other services for older residents. These include free access to public transportation and health services at administration hospitals and community health centers (Puskesmas).
“You can now ride any public transport run by the Jakarta Administration for free. Please arrange your card registration,” said the governor.
Jakarta has also launched a Senior School program, which currently includes 78 schools with 2,278 participants. ***
