RRI.CO.ID, Yogyakarta - The Population and Family Development Ministry/National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) has launched the Taman Asuh Sayang Anak (Tamasya) or Loving Child Care Center program to provide certified daycare services for factory workers in Bantul, Yogyakarta. This initiative ensures safe child care while enabling parents to remain productive at work.
Population and Family Development Minister/BKKBN Head, Wihaji, said the daycare initiative responds to worker demands for employer‑provided child‑care facilities.
“There is a demand from workers for corporations or companies with large numbers of employees to provide daycare facilities we call Tamasya,” said Minister Wihaji during a visit to Taman Asuh Adiku in Bantul on Friday, 26 June 2026.
The program is part of implementing the President’s directive to address workers’ needs and will be rolled out gradually through coordination with various ministries and stakeholders.
Ahead of the 33rd National Family Day (Harganas) on 29 June 2026, Minister Wihaji stressed that quality daycare is an important measure to protect children and to increase women’s labor‑force participation.
He said Kemendukbangga/BKKBN has so far assisted 3,366 daycare centers across Indonesia. Each facility is required to meet service standards to prevent a recurrence of illegal daycare cases that had drawn public attention in Yogyakarta.
All Tamasya centers under the program must also be equipped with closed‑circuit cameras (CCTV) so parents can monitor their children’s activities and development while in care.
“Children have the right to good caregiving, while their parents should also be able to continue working,” said the minister.
Minister Wihaji added that every Tamasya supported by Kemendukbangga must have medical staff and child health services. Four mandatory core services are free health checks, growth and development monitoring, communication with parents, and referral services when needed.
These four components are the standards required of all Tamasya centers fostered by Kemendukbangga/BKKBN, intended to provide safe, quality child‑care that supports working families’ well‑being. (Annaila Azzahra-EN)
