RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - To overcome geographic barriers, five sea ambulances are now in operation to serve emergency evacuations and healthcare needs for residents of the Seribu Islands Regency, Jakarta Province. The vessels are stationed at strategic points to ensure regular, integrated medical referrals between islands.

“Five sea ambulances serve the emergency health needs of residents in the Seribu Islands,” said Head of the Thousand Islands Health Sub-Agency, Ghamal Ahmad Pramana, in Jakarta on Wednesday, 24 June 2026.

He said two sea ambulances belonging to the Regional Health Crisis and Emergency Center (PK3D) are ready to respond to emergency assistance requests. Two units from the Seribu Islands Regional Hospital (RSUD) and one unit from the North Seribu Islands Community Health Center are also on standby to support healthcare services.

As reported by Antara, all five vessels are in good condition, coordinate with one another, and provide mutual operational support when patients require assistance.

Ghamal explained that the two RSUD ambulances are stationed on Pramuka Island, the two PK3D vessels on Tidung and Kelapa Island, and the community health center unit on Kelapa Island.

He added that the sea ambulances are on alert and ready to serve residents across the Seribu Islands, including facilitating patient referrals from the outer islands.

“So far, the presence of these five sea ambulances is sufficient for emergency service needs, especially since the nearest sea ambulance can refer patients as required,” he said. ***
