RRI.CO.ID, Bandung - West Java police say digital traces led them to arrest a suspect in the abduction and assault of a 29-year-old woman whose ordeal left her with severe injuries.
Regional Police Chief, Ins. Gen. Rudi Setiawan, announced officers apprehended TH after investigators tracked several online transactions linked to the suspect.
"This morning the person in question made several transactions. That became a clue for us. The team on duty in Majalaya stayed there, searched around the housing area and finally in the afternoon until evening managed to find and arrest the person," said Rudi in Bandung on Tuesday, 24 June 2026.
After his arrest in the Ciparay Subdistrict’s Griya Pesona housing complex in Bandung Regency, West Java, Taufik was first taken to the Majalaya sector police for initial processing. He was then transferred to the West Java Regional Police headquarters for further interrogation.
Authorities said they are following standard procedure with a medical check and a drug test. "We conducted a health examination to ensure the suspect's condition. Then we also carried out a drug test and the result was negative," said Rudi, as quoted by Antara.
During preliminary questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to the acts and expressed remorse, claiming his behavior was influenced by alcohol. "He admitted to everything he did. He also stated he regretted it and said his actions were carried out under the influence of alcohol," added Rudi.
Investigators continue to probe the motive and sequence of violent acts inflicted on the victim, identified only by her initials YTR.
The case came to light when the victim’s family received a WhatsApp message from an unknown sender saying she had been taken to the emergency unit at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung.
Medical sources and police reports say the victim suffered multiple serious injuries, including a torn lip, speech difficulties, impaired mobility, and loss of valuable personal items. Furthermore, the victim suffered severe vision impairment that has progressed to blindness in both eyes.
