Norwegian Ambassador Admires Raja Ampat as Favorite Destination in Indonesia

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Norwegian Ambassador to Indonesia, Rut Krüger Giverin, shared her deep admiration for Indonesia's natural landscapes. After living in Indonesia for five years, she named Raja Ampat as her favorite place.

During a visit to RRI Voice of Indonesia building in Jakarta, Friday, June 19, 2026, Rut expressed her fondness for outdoor activities. She explained that her diplomatic work and private trips allow her to explore many regions.

“Indonesia is an amazing country. I've been here now for five years. I've had the opportunity to travel a lot, both with work, meeting our counterparts, different parts of the government, local authorities, but also privately,” she said.

The Ambassador is an avid hiker who enjoys exploring Indonesian mountains. She has climbed several famous volcanoes across the archipelago during her stay.

She conveyed, “I also really like trekking, walking in the mountains. I've been to Rinjani, I've been to East Java, climbing fantastic volcanoes.”

In addition, Rut is also passionate about diving. She highly praised the marine conservation efforts she witnessed in West Papua.

“And also I've been diving in so many different places. And if I have to bring out one place, it has to be West Papua and the diving in Raja Ampat. It's absolutely amazing. And also to see how Indonesia has managed to protect this area for the rest of the world, really,” she said.
