RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - East Jakarta’s administration is doubling down on locally rooted creative sectors this year, naming culinary, craft, and fashion as the primary drivers of its 2026 creative‑economy agenda. The strategy is designed to boost jobs, expand market reach, and strengthen local competitiveness.

“Priority development of the creative economy currently focuses on the culinary, fashion, and craft sectors because they comprise the majority of MSMEs and creative‑economy actors developing in East Jakarta,” said Head of the East Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Yayang Kustiawan, in a statement on Thursday, June 11, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He noted that these three sectors dominate the composition of creative businesses across the municipality. According to sub‑agency data, 2,574 creative‑enterprise actors have received guidance so far, most of whom are active in the culinary, craft, and fashion sectors.

The administration plans to expand support through coaching programs, training, and promotional activities while strengthening entrepreneurs’ capacity to adapt to technological shifts and market demands.

Yayang said digital technologies offer major opportunities for creative businesses to expand their markets, with digital platforms serving as both sales channels and tools for building brand identity. He also stressed the role of community groups and multi‑stakeholder collaboration in opening business networks and enhancing skills.

Despite promising prospects, Yayang acknowledged persistent challenges in accessing capital and managing finances that constrain many small operators.

“Therefore, coaching is not only focused on product development but also on improving business management capabilities,” he said.

For 2026, the agency aims to increase the number of supported enterprises to strengthen the creative ecosystem and raise the sector’s contribution to the local economy. ***
