RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The South Jakarta Special Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office has deported a Vietnamese national for abusing the terms of their stay permit, marking the latest crackdown by authorities on expatriates engaging in unauthorized professional practices.

The foreign national, a dentist identified by the initials TAT, was found to be actively practicing medicine while residing in the country on a standard tourist visa, officially known as a Visitor Stay Permit (ITK). Alongside the immediate expulsion, immigration authorities have officially blacklisted the individual from re-entering Indonesia.

"We have taken immigration administrative action in the form of deportation against TAT and have placed the individual's name on the deterrence list," head of the South Jakarta Immigration Office, Winarko, said in an official statement on Monday, June 8, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He said that the enforcement action was executed as part of routine monitoring and surveillance targeting foreign nationals residing in South Jakarta. He added that the move reinforces the agency's commitment to maintaining public order, safeguarding national security, and upholding immigration laws through professional and measurable standards.

The violations came to light following an inspection at a medical facility in the upscale residential area of Ciputat. Upon being confronted by surveillance and enforcement officers, TAT initially attempted to evade scrutiny by posing as a client.

"However, based on the results of the field inspection and facts gathered by officers, TAT was discovered to be a medical professional working and providing services at the clinic," Winarko explained.

Following the field assessment, officers escorted the dentist to the South Jakarta Immigration headquarters for deeper interrogation. The subsequent investigation conclusively established that TAT had intentionally misused the visitor visa for activities entirely inconsistent with its issuance guidelines.

The deportation process was completed on Friday, June 5, 2026, with TAT being flown back to Vietnam from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport following cross-agency coordination.

Winarko maintained that all legal procedures throughout the operation were handled professionally, humanely, and in strict accordance with statutory regulations. Moving forward, the office intends to scale up its field monitoring to provide legal certainty for the public and ensure all expatriates respect domestic regulations.

"This action is a form of our commitment to enforcing immigration law and ensuring that every foreign national complies with the applicable provisions while in Indonesian territory," Winarko concluded, noting that the measure aligns with the agency's Immigration for the People ethos. ***
