RRI.CO.ID, Pekanbaru - The Riau Province Indonesian Migrant Worker Protection Service Agency (BP3MI) has received 150 non-procedural Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) following their deportation from Malaysia. The group arrived at Dumai Port on Saturday via the Indomal Kingdom vessel, marking another significant repatriation of undocumented workers.

The group consists of 68 men and 82 women hailing from various provinces across the archipelago, including Aceh, North Sumatra, East Java, West Kalimantan, and Papua. While the majority arrived in stable condition, several individuals required immediate medical attention for chronic conditions and injuries.

“Most of the migrant workers are in healthy condition, but there are also those experiencing health problems. These include hypertension, diabetes, broken legs, and even HIV,” BP3MI Riau Head Fanny Wahyu Kurniawan said in Pekanbaru on Monday, April 27, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Upon arrival, the BP3MI Riau team, in coordination with the Dumai City Placement and Protection Service Post for Indonesian Migrant Workers (P4MI), facilitated initial data collection and provided protective services. The workers were subsequently transported to the Indonesian Migrant Worker Friendly House in Dumai for further processing while awaiting transportation to their respective hometowns.

Fanny emphasized that the agency’s role extends beyond mere logistics; it serves as a vital touchpoint for rehabilitation and education. He reiterated the dangers of working abroad through illegal channels, which often lead to exploitation and deportation.

“Our presence is not just to pick them up, but also to rehabilitate and convey that the state is not remaining silent,” Fanny added.

The agency continues to urge the public to follow official procedures when seeking employment overseas to avoid the severe legal and personal risks associated with non-procedural migration. ***
