  • The Jakarta Provincial Administration has implemented a symbolic IDR 1 fare for all BUMD-managed public transportation to celebrate National Transportation Day on Friday, April 24, 2026.
  • The policy applies to all Transjakarta services, including both Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Non-BRT routes, for a full 24-hour period.

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – In a symbolic move to encourage greater use of public transit, the Jakarta Provincial Administration is offering a special fare of IDR 1 across its public transportation network on National Transportation Day, Friday, April 24, 2026.

The one‑day policy applies to all services operated by Jakarta’s regional enterprises (BUMD). Among the services adopting the fare is Transjakarta, which has extended the IDR 1 rate to both Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and non‑BRT routes.

Transjakarta’s Head of Public Relations and CSR, Ayu Wardhani, said the initiative is designed to make public transport more accessible while promoting sustainable mobility.

“Through the IDR 1 fare, we want to provide convenience and encourage more residents to switch to public transport as an efficient and sustainable choice,” she explained in Jakarta on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

The special fare is valid from 00:00 to 23:59 local time, though certain services - such as Mikrotrans, Transjakarta Cares (Transcare), and free rides for specific passenger categories -- will continue under existing tariff rules, in line with Jakarta Governor Regulation No. 160/2016.

As part of the provincial administration, Transjakarta reaffirmed its commitment to delivering safe, comfortable, and inclusive services. Route and schedule information remains accessible via the official TJ: Transjakarta app and company social media channels.

Ayu expressed hope that the IDR 1 fare would not only boost ridership during the commemoration but also inspire lasting behavioral change.

“We hope this momentum will increase public interest in using public transport, not just on National Transportation Day but also as part of everyday mobility that is more efficient and environmentally friendly,” she said. (Annaila Azzahra/Sri Wahyuni)
