RRI.CO.ID, Nusantara - The Otorita Ibu Kota Nusantara is empowering communities with skills through rattan weaving and wood carving training in Nusantara. The program took place at Tower D of the ASN 1 housing complex in IKN, from 13–17 April 2026.

Twenty participants from various sub-districts within the IKN delineation area joined the training. The initiative aims to foster entrepreneurship while safeguarding cultural heritage. It also nurtures a community-driven creative economy.

Facilitators from the Ministry of Industry Indonesia delivered technical and practical guidance during the program. They include Edi Eskak, Hadi Sumarto, Nova Retnawati, and Zuriyah.

Participants received both theoretical learning and hands-on practice. The training covered raw material processing, production techniques, and product design development with market appeal.

Director of Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy at OIKN, Muhsin Palinrungi, emphasized the importance of community empowerment. “This training is expected to preserve local culture while encouraging the rise of new creative economy actors in the IKN region," he said.

A participant, Daniel, a teacher at SMPN 02 Penajam Paser Utara, highlighted the value of knowledge transfer. “I hope the knowledge from this training can be passed on to my students. Creative economy development cannot be done alone, but must involve the next generation," he stated.

Another participant, Dina, a furniture entrepreneur from Sepaku, welcomed the program’s impact on her business. “I hope this training helps me improve product quality and expand marketing reach,” she said.

The initiative reflects IKN’s broader vision of building an inclusive and sustainable cultural and economic ecosystem.
