RRI.CO.ID, Cirebon - Cirebon, West Java, is positioning itself as a burgeoning hub for sustainable transportation by integrating electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure directly into the heart of its administrative and public service centers. The Cirebon City Administration has announced the deployment of 11 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) across various high-traffic municipal assets, signaling a robust commitment to fostering a local green energy ecosystem.

The initiative is the result of a strategic partnership between the city and third-party investors, utilizing a land-lease mechanism facilitated by the Regional Financial and Revenue Management Agency (BPKPD). Acting Head of the Cirebon City Transportation Agency, Ujianto, confirmed on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, that the infrastructure rollout is already underway.

“A total of 11 locations have been prepared on local administration-owned assets, and the installation process is currently in progress,” he said, as quoted by Antara.

Strategically selected sites include the City Hall area, the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) Secretariat, and the Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency (DPMPTSP). At several locations, the physical infrastructure, comprising charging units, specialized cabling, and distinctive blue-marked parking bays, is already visible to the public.

Acting Head of the Cirebon DPMPTSP, Iing Daiman, highlighted the convenience this brings to residents, particularly as the charging points are integrated with the Public Service Mall (MPP).

He noted that the central location allows citizens to handle administrative tasks while simultaneously powering their vehicles. “Visitors to the MPP will later be able to charge their electric vehicles while accessing services,” noted Daiman.

While the physical units are in place, a brief waiting period remains before the network goes live. Daiman explained that the SPKLU stations cannot yet be utilized to their full capacity as they await the finalization of supporting electrical installations.

Once operational, the network will be managed through a collaborative effort between the BPKPD and the private sector. This initiative provides a concrete example of how public-private partnerships can accelerate the transition to eco-friendly urban mobility in West Java. ***
