RRI.CO.ID, Medan - The search for victims of a devastating landslide in Deli Serdang reached a somber conclusion on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, as authorities confirmed a total of five fatalities following the destruction of several homes in Sembahe Village. The disaster, which struck during the early hours of Tuesday, April 7, 2026, highlights the ongoing vulnerability of residential areas situated in the rugged terrain of North Sumatra.

The Head of Emergency Management, Equipment, and Logistics at the North Sumatra Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Sri Wahyuni Pancasilawati, announced the discovery of the final victims in Medan. "The landslide victims in Sembahe were found this morning at 6:20 a.m. Jakarta time," she said on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

As reported by Antara, the deceased have been identified as Gobal Sembiring (39), Riski Sembiring (14), Boy Simorangkir (51), Rosmawati Br Ginting (49), and Jamillah Br Ginting (48). According to Wahyuni, who is commonly known as Yuyun, all five victims were local residents whose homes were directly in the path of the falling earth and debris.

While the community mourns the heavy loss of life, there was a brief moment of relief as one survivor was pulled from the wreckage. "The survivor is Sehat Br Tarigan, aged 65," confirmed Yuyun, though the scale of the physical destruction remains significant.

The disaster occurred in Dusun III, Sembahe Village, Sibolangit Subdistrict, in the predawn hours of Tuesday, April 7.
