RRI.CO.ID, Palangka Raya - Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran welcomed a British parliamentary delegation to foster friendship and strengthen international friendship, while also opening up opportunities for collaboration.
"We welcome various opportunities for collaboration with the UK. As long as they comply with regulations and bring prosperity to the people of Central Kalimantan," said Governor Agustiar in Palangka Raya on Thursday, April 2, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
In front of the British parliament delegation, Agustiar said that Central Kalimantan is the largest province in Indonesia and has abundant natural resources, including mining, plantations, forestry, and agriculture.
"We have a wealth of arts and culture and natural beauty, such as Tanjung Puting National Park and Sebangau with its beautiful black river," he explained.
Acting Regional Secretary of Central Kalimantan Province, Linae, said the meeting with the British parliament offered prospects for collaboration and cooperation across a number of vital areas, notably sustainable development and environmental protection.
"Furthermore, Central Kalimantan is home to one of the biggest peat ecosystems in Indonesia, which is essential to the world's carbon storage. As a result, Central Kalimantan is essential to the world's attempts to combat climate change and protect biodiversity," he said.
The British Parliamentary delegation's visit to Central Kalimantan was to observe orangutan conservation and its habitat.
A representative of the British Parliamentary delegation, Barry Strachan Gardiner, expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome from the Governor of Central Kalimantan and his staff.
