RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang - Banten Governor Andra Soni, alongside Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, and Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, officially launched the 2026 National Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) program.

The launch, held at the Tigaraksa General Purpose Building (GSG) in Tangerang Regency on Monday, March 30, 2026, marks a massive inter-ministerial effort to eliminate uninhabitable housing across Indonesia.

The 2026 program features a powerful collaboration between the PKP Ministry, BP Tapera, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), PT Permodalan Nasional Mandiri (PNM), and PT Sarana Multigriya Finansial (SMF), combining housing subsidies with grassroots economic empowerment.

Data shows a significant surge in the housing budget for Banten. The BSPS allocation for the province has reached 3,322 units as of March 2026, nearly double the 1,742 units provided in 2025. Officials estimate the program has the potential to expand to a total of 6,975 units across the province this year.

Governor Andra Soni emphasized that cross-sector collaboration is the strategic key to inclusive housing solutions. He also shared a personal reflection on the dignity that comes with homeownership, recalling the emotions of purchasing his first subsidized type-36 house in 2003.

“This program is a concrete step in reducing uninhabitable houses and improving the people's quality of life,” Governor Andra Soni said during the event, as quoted by Infopublik.id.

Minister Maruarar Sirait stressed that housing development must go hand-in-hand with economic strength. He highlighted the government's commitment to providing safe, low-interest financing to ensure low-income families are not exploited by illegal moneylenders.

“The community must be given access to cheap and safe financing, so they do not get caught by moneylenders with high interest rates,” Minister Sirait asserted.

Strategic measures include reducing loan interest for PNM Mekaar customers and rolling out a IDR 180 trillion People’s Business Credit (KUR) specifically for the housing sector.

Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, underscored that because shelter is a fundamental human need, housing programs serve as a primary instrument for poverty alleviation.

“Housing is a basic need. If the housing program runs massively, poverty will decrease,” he noted.

As of March 2026, the distribution of Self-Help Housing Stimulant Assistance (BSPS) units across Banten shows a targeted effort to improve housing quality, with Tangerang Regency receiving the largest allocation of 1,308 units.

Significant support is also being directed toward the southern regions, with 895 units allocated to Lebak Regency and 540 units to Pandeglang Regency. In the urban centers, Tangerang City is set to receive 299 units, while Cilegon City and South Tangerang City have been allocated 100 units and 79 units, respectively.

Finally, the program will reach the provincial capital region with 55 units for Serang Regency and 46 units for Serang City.

With this national launch, the Banten Provincial Administration expressed optimism that the synergy between central and local authorities will successfully provide decent housing while simultaneously boosting the local economy. ***
