RRI.CO.ID, Nusantara - Indonesia’s future capital, Nusantara, is emerging as a vibrant cultural destination where modern development meets living traditions. Through events like “Simfoni Swara Nusantara,” public spaces are coming alive as open-air stages for music, art, and community interaction.
Held in the core government district on Saturday, 28 March 2026, the event brings together contemporary performances and traditional East Kalimantan heritage. The sounds of the sape, a traditional string instrument, blend with modern music, fusing a distinctive cultural harmony.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by Nusantara Capital Authority to enrich the experience of visitors while promoting Indonesia’s diverse cultural identity. It reflects how the country integrates heritage into the development of its new capital.
Visitors have expressed admiration for the transformation of Nusantara into a lively and welcoming space. “My first visit to IKN (Ibu Kota Nusantara) is extraordinary—I was amazed to see such rapid development in what I thought was a forest,” said Hambali, a local resident from Penajam Paser Utara.
He added that the experience goes beyond observing infrastructure. “It’s not just about development; there’s entertainment, cafés, and a vibrant atmosphere, it feels truly impressive,” he said.
Returning visitors also note the city’s growing accessibility and energy. “This is our second visit, and now with better road access, it feels more alive, like a major city with music and activity everywhere,” said Eko Supriono from Balikpapan.
Cultural performances, including traditional fashion inspired by Dayak heritage, are a standout feature for visitors. Performers wearing hudoq costumes interact with the crowd, offering an immersive cultural experience.
“The enthusiasm is incredible, people are excited not only to see the city’s progress but also to enjoy free cultural performances and traditional games,” said Lila, a performer involved in the event.
According to spokesperson Troy Pantouw, cultural activation plays a key role in welcoming both domestic and international visitors. “We want people to not only see development but also experience Indonesia’s rich arts and traditions, including the unique sound of the sape,” he said.
As Nusantara continues to grow, it is redefining itself beyond a political hub. It stands as a symbol of Indonesia’s vision, where innovation, culture, and global engagement come together.
