RRI.CO.ID, Majalengka – The Majalengka Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) in West Java has recorded at least 25 landslide sites in the southern region after heavy rain battered the area on the night of Monday, March 23, 2026, just after Eid al-Fitr 2026.
Majalengka Regency BPBD Acting Head, Agus Tamim, conveyed that the dozens of landslides were scattered across 11 villages, with most occurring in Lemahsugih Subdistrict.
"After receiving reports from village governments and volunteers, we immediately deployed teams to the field for rapid assessments," said Agus during a statement in Majalengka on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.
He explained that data collection is ongoing to confirm the number of affected sites and the urgent needs of residents in the disaster zones.
In addition to landslides, BPBD recorded soil movement and flash floods in Margajaya Village. Elsewhere, a resident's home was struck by lightning in Blok Pasir Cabe, Sinargalih Village.
Agus noted that southern Majalengka is highly prone to landslides, especially during prolonged periods of increased rainfall.
For response efforts, BPBD Majalengka has coordinated with subdistrict officials, the Indonesian Military , National Police (TNI-Polri), and volunteers to carry out emergency measures at several affected sites.
Actions include clearing landslide debris that blocked village roads and distributing aid to impacted residents. Agus mentioned that some roads were temporarily covered by debris, disrupting community activities. However, no fatalities have been reported from the series of disasters so far.
A joint team from BPBD, the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUTR), Indonesian Military (TNI), and the National Police (Polri) has been deployed with heavy equipment to accelerate on-site handling.
"BPBD and PUTR teams, assisted by TNI-Polri, are repairing several landslide-hit spots using heavy machinery, such as on Jalan Ciranca and the Padarek-Kalapadua road section," he said.
BPBD assured continued monitoring of the situation and optimization of response efforts to minimize further impacts on the community. (Annaila Syafa Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
