RRI.CO.ID, South Lampung - The peak of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr return flow at Bakauheni Port, Lampung, recorded a sharp increase in passenger numbers, though crossing operations remained under control without major congestion.

General Manager of state-owned ferry operator PT ASDP’s Bakauheni Branch in South Lampung, Partogi Tamba, said the peak occurred on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. PT ASDP manages ferry, port, and transportation services that connect Indonesia’s islands.

“Based on 24-hour data from the ASDP post, the total number of passengers crossing from Sumatra to Java on D+2 and D+3 reached 128,821, a 51 percent increase compared to 85,287 in the same period last year,” Partogi said on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

Vehicle traffic also rose. A total of 18,137 motorcycles crossed, while four-wheeled vehicles reached 16,293, up 41.8 percent from 11,494 in the same period last year.

Despite the surge, PT ASDP reported no long queues in parking areas or at port entrances. Hundreds of joint officers were deployed to manage the flow of vehicles and passengers.

The company has also anticipated further increases, with the second wave of return traffic expected on March 28–29, 2026.

Travelers crossing from Bakauheni, Lampung, to Merak, Banten, are advised to monitor weather conditions, as extreme weather has been reported in several regions and may affect journeys. ***
