Nusantara Scholarship Empowers Local Youth

RRI.CO.ID, Nusantara - The Nusantara Capital Authority, in collaboration with Universitas Brawijaya, has officially opened a scholarship program for residents living in the delineated areas of Nusantara Capital City in East Kalimantan. The initiative aims at developing local talent to support Nusantara as Indonesia’s future capital and emerging economic superhub.

Selected students will receive full financial support for undergraduate studies for up to eight semesters, covering tuition and institutional development fees. The program offers study options in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Brawijaya.

Available programs include Sociology, Communication Studies, Government Studies, Psychology, Political Science, International Relations, Agribusiness, Agrotechnology, and Forestry. The scholarship specifically targets students residing within the Nusantara delineation area.

These areas include Sepaku in Penajam Paser Utara Regency and several districts in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, such as Samboja, Muara Jawa, Loa Kulu, and Loa Janan. The program is now in its second year, continuing to expand opportunities for local youth.

This effort to strengthen human resources aligns with Indonesia’s national development vision under point 4 of the Asta Cita program by President Prabowo Subianto, which places improving education quality as a top national priority. During his speech at the National Teacher’s Day 2025 celebration at Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, on Friday, November 28, 2025, the President affirmed that education is a key foundation for the nation’s future.

In 2024, two students from farming families in the Nusantara region were selected as recipients of the Agrotechnology scholarship at Universitas Brawijaya. Both have demonstrated strong academic achievements and actively participated in campus activities.

Spokesperson for the Nusantara Capital Authority, Troy Pantouw, said that education is a top priority for the region’s future.

“We must ensure that every member of the community, especially the young generation in the Nusantara area, has access to quality education. Following the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, it will be impossible to achieve prosperity or progress if we do not have quality education,” he conveyed.

Through the initiative, the Nusantara Capital Authority hopes to cultivate a generation of local talent with academic and leadership skills who can contribute to the long-term development of Indonesia’s new capital.
