RRI.CO.ID, Sentani - The Jayapura Regency Adminiatration, Papua Province, has initiated a sweeping revitalization of its education infrastructure, targeting 19 educational levels ranging from Early Childhood Education (PAUD) to Senior High and Vocational Schools.

This large-scale modernization effort, fueled by a synergy between central government programs and Local Administration Budget (APBD) allocations, marks a shift toward standardized, technology-driven learning environments across the regency.

The initiative was formally inaugurated on Friday, March 6, 2026, through a symbolic ceremony at State Senior high School or SMA Negeri 3 Sentani. Beyond mere structural repairs, the program represents a holistic commitment to "educational ranking" and human resource development, ensuring that remote schools in Jayapura meet national standards for facilities and digital readiness.

The scope of the revitalization extends far beyond traditional brick-and-mortar construction. According to Head of the Jayapura Regency Education Agency, Amelia Ondikeleuw, the program specifically prioritizes technological integration to prepare students for a digital future. PAUD and Junior High (SMP) levels are the primary beneficiaries of new hardware, including computers and laptops, while older institutions are receiving significant physical expansions to accommodate growing student populations.

"Today, I have symbolically inaugurated the revitalization of educational infrastructure at SMA Negeri 3 Sentani, and this signifies that we are continuously improving the facilities of every school," said Jayapura Regent Yunus Wonda during the event in Sentani, as quoted by Antara.

He emphasized that physical development must go hand-in-hand with human capital growth. "With the construction of infrastructure and facilities in this school, it also becomes our commitment to perform educational ranking in Jayapura Regency," Wonda added.

The impact of this policy is perhaps most visible at SMA Negeri 3 Sentani, where the revitalization has introduced a suite of new essential buildings. The school now boasts a new student dormitory, a dedicated school health unit (UKS) room, counseling (BK) facilities, upgraded sanitation, and two additional classroom buildings.

These additions are designed to transform the school from a simple learning center into a comprehensive support system for students, particularly those traveling from distant villages.

"Revitalization of infrastructure and educational facilities is a central government program as well as support from the Local Administration Budget," explained Amelia Ondikeleuw, detailing the collaborative funding nature of the project.

She noted that the distribution of tech devices is a key pillar of the strategy. "Technology device assistance is most widely given to the PAUD level, and SMP also received laptop assistance in addition to building construction," she said.

Principal of SMA Negeri 3 Sentani, Elizabeth Kreuta expressed her gratitude for the intervention, noting that it addresses long-standing limitations in the school's operational capacity. "The assistance helps the school meet the standards for educational facilities and infrastructure, which until now have been limited," she noted. ***
