RRI.CO.ID, Nusantara - Indonesia’s new capital city, Nusantara, continues to attract international attention as development progresses. Representatives from the Austrian Embassy visited the Nusantara Capital Authority to explore potential collaboration in several strategic sectors supporting the city’s future development.
Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, welcomed the Austrian delegation at the Nusantara Capital Authority City Hall on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. The delegation was led by Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Michael Wislocki and Commercial Counselor Sigmund Nemeti.
During the visit, both sides discussed several opportunities for cooperation that could support the ongoing development of Nusantara. The meeting highlighted the importance of international collaboration in building a modern, sustainable, and inclusive capital city.
Basuki emphasized that Nusantara is designed not only as Indonesia’s new administrative center but also as a complete urban ecosystem that integrates infrastructure, public services, and sustainable economic growth.
“The development of Nusantara is not only about building a new government center, but also about creating a complete urban ecosystem, from infrastructure and health services to education and sustainable economic development. Therefore, we are open to international collaboration that can enrich the development of Nusantara,” Basuki said.
Wislocki noted that the Austrian Embassy had previously visited Nusantara in 2023 to explore potential business opportunities. This visit allowed the delegation to directly observe the progress of development and identify areas where Austrian expertise could contribute.
“The Austrian Embassy last visited Nusantara in 2023 to explore various business opportunities. We have been closely following the progress of the new capital’s development, and we are particularly interested in contributing to the vision of building a modern and sustainable green city in Indonesia,” said Wislocki.
Austria, recognized for its technological innovation and urban solutions, expressed interest in several potential areas of cooperation. These include smart city technologies, urban transportation systems, healthcare services, and education and training programs to support human resource development.
Through this visit, both sides hope to strengthen communication and expand cooperation between Indonesia and Austria. Continued collaboration is expected to support the development of Nusantara as a sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive city.
