RRI.CO.ID, Bekasi Regency – The Acting Regent of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, has announced that rewards will be granted to residents who report illegal waste dumping within Bekasi Regency, West Java. This initiative aims to bolster public participation in maintaining environmental cleanliness.
According to Asep, the incentive program was introduced because illegal dumping activities are notoriously difficult to detect. Perpetrators frequently operate under the cover of darkness, typically during late-night hours or at dawn.
"We will provide rewards to members of the community who identify and report those littering or dumping waste indiscriminately. This is necessary because these activities often occur late at night or in the early hours of the morning," he said on Monday, March 2, 2026.
In addition to the reward system, Asep emphasized that the administration will not hesitate to impose strict sanctions on offenders. These penalties are an implementation of the 2025 Regional Regulation on Waste Management.
"We will take firm action against illegal dumping. The enforcement will strictly follow the provisions outlined in the Waste Management Regulation," he said.
Asep acknowledged that waste management remains a significant challenge for the Bekasi Regency Administration. Consequently, his administration is intensifying efforts to resolve the issue across the region.
Reiterating his commitment, Asep stressed that waste issues will receive his serious attention. "As we can see, many irresponsible parties continue to dispose of waste improperly," he concluded. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
