RRI.CO.ID, Tangerang - The Tangerang City Environmental Agency (DLH) in Banten Province has launched a decisive crackdown on environmental violations. The agency is summoning operators of illegal waste disposal sites (TPS) found operating along the banks of the Cisadane River.
This enforcement action follows a recent inspection in Neglasari Subdistrict. During the visit, unauthorized waste management activities were identified as a significant pollution threat to one of the region’s vital waterways.
In a collaborative effort to safeguard the river’s ecosystem, the DLH partnered with the Tangerang Metropolitan Police to shut down four separate illegal sites. Head of the Tangerang City Environmental Agency, Wawan Fauzi, confirmed the legal proceedings in a statement on Friday, February 27, 2026.
“We have summoned all relevant illegal TPS operators for further examination in accordance with applicable regulations,” remarked Wawan, as quoted by Antara.
He emphasized that the city is prioritizing the prevention of environmental degradation along the Cisadane riverbanks.
To prevent any further unauthorized activity, authorities have cordoned off the affected areas with Environmental Protection and Management (PPLH) lines and installed official prohibition signage. This physical closure serves as a permanent halt to the illegal processing of waste at these specific locations.
“We took firm action yesterday by shutting down the operational waste management processes at four illegal TPS sites,” added Wawan, noting that the sites posed an immediate risk to the surrounding environment.
The Tangerang City Administration continues to urge residents and businesses to refrain from any unlicensed waste processing. Officials cited the severe risks these activities pose to both ecological health and public safety.
Officials warned that unauthorized dumping not only contaminates soil and water but also creates long-term health hazards for nearby communities.
“Strict action will be enforced against any party proven to be conducting illegal waste management activities because of the high potential for pollution,” concluded Wawan. ***
