RRI.CO.ID, Nusantara – The Nusantara Capital Authority signed a US$2.49 million technical assistance agreement with the United States Government on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, to advance Smart City planning for Indonesia’s new capital. The grant, provided by the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), aims to develop an integrated, investment-ready Smart City Blueprint that will accelerate Nusantara’s transformation into a green, technology-driven, and globally competitive city.

The assistance will produce strategic and technical frameworks, including a Smart City Enterprise Architecture, procurement-ready project packages, financial and investment models, ESG-compliant instruments, a capacity-building roadmap, and phased implementation planning. These components are designed to ensure structured execution, transparency, and alignment with global Environmental, Social, and Governance standards while strengthening Nusantara’s long-term digital resilience.

Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, emphasized that digital transformation is central to Nusantara’s development vision. He underscored that the city is being designed not only as a new administrative center but also as a model of sustainable and intelligent urban governance.

“Our vision is clear: Nusantara must become a green, sustainable, and fundamentally smart city,” Basuki said.

The project is led by Eficens Systems Inc. in collaboration with Frost & Sullivan (USA and Indonesia), ASECH Indonesia (Center of Excellence on Smart City), Mirekel, and PT Searce Technologies Indonesia. The initiative reflects growing international confidence in Nusantara as a forward-looking capital built on innovation, sustainability, and cross-border cooperation.

Member of the Board of Frost & Sullivan America and Project Director, Subhranshu Sekhar Das, highlighted Nusantara’s long-term potential beyond conventional smart city frameworks. He noted that emerging technologies such as adaptive intelligence systems could position Nusantara as a global reference for next-generation urban development.

“Nusantara has the opportunity to become more than just a smart city, it can evolve into a Cognitive City, Cities must transition from static digital infrastructure to adaptive intelligence systems that continuously optimize governance, infrastructure, and citizen services,” he said.

The signing ceremony and inaugural project meeting were attended by USTDA Senior Representative for Indonesia, Yolanda Hanna, alongside consortium representatives. Through this partnership, Indonesia reinforces its commitment to ensuring that Nusantara is not only physically constructed but also digitally mature, secure, and future-oriented.
