RRI.CO.ID, Sleman – Sleman Regent Harda Kiswaya has expressed his support for the “Roof Tilesization” program recently launched by President Prabowo Subianto. The initiative is particularly relevant to Sleman, as the Godean Subdistrict in Yogyakarta Province is widely renowned as a central hub for clay roof tile production.

The "Roof Tilesization" policy itself is a national program designed by President Prabowo Subianto to promote the use of clay tiles as the primary roofing material for buildings. According to Harda, utilizing clay tiles significantly enhances the comfort levels within a structure.

"In my opinion, this is an excellent policy from the President regarding 'Roof Tilesization' because we can truly feel the results, that is houses using clay tiles are much more comfortable," conveyed Harda on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

He further noted that in response to the program, his administration is striving to improve the quality of tiles manufactured in Godean. The goal is to bolster public confidence in using locally made products from Sleman.

However, the Regent acknowledged that local artisans are currently facing several obstacles, most notably regarding raw materials. "The supply of high-quality soil is increasingly depleted. This is a problem, causing tile production in Sleman, particularly in Godean, to be hindered by raw material shortages. Currently, materials must be brought in from Kebumen Regency," he explained.

Despite these challenges, Harda assured that his office is fully prepared to support the central government’s program. While he could not provide an exact figure for the number of homes in Sleman still lacking clay tile roofs, he estimated that the majority of buildings in the region already utilize them.

"God willing, the number of those using clay tiles must be greater," concluded Harda. ***
