RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – Residents and officials from Karawang Regency, West Java, have rallied to send a high-quality ambulance worth USD 47,000 (IDR 790 million) to Gaza, Palestine, via Indonesia's National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas RI). This effort bolsters emergency medical services amid escalating humanitarian needs ahead of Ramadan.

The aid, which includes additional food assistance valued at IDR 236 million (USD 14,011), was coordinated through Baznas RI's partnership with Egypt-based humanitarian group Gazze Destek Dernegi (GDD) to ensure safe delivery and targeted distribution in Gaza.

"This is aid from the Karawang Regency Administration and Karawang residents given to the people of Gaza. The ambulance will soon be delivered directly to Gaza through GDD Egypt, a humanitarian organization with strong networks and extensive experience in Palestinian aid missions," said Baznas RI Chairperson, Noor Achmad, in a statement from Jakarta on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

As reported by Antara, Noor Achmad highlighted the ambulance's superior production quality. Its specifications have been customized for Gaza's challenging conditions to enable optimal emergency medical response.

He stressed the vast scale of Gaza's needs, particularly as Ramadan approaches, extending beyond healthcare to food and basic necessities.

"Hopefully, this partnership continues to grow, as Gaza's needs are massive. Ahead of Ramadan, they need not only ambulances but also food and other humanitarian aid," remarked Noor Achmad.

Karawang Regency Secretary, Asep Aang Rahmatullah, confirmed the contributions came from local administration, residents, and civil servants via Baznas. "We hope this aid benefits our brothers and sisters in Gaza, especially ahead of Ramadan," he said.

GDD Egypt leader, Abu Faros, expressed deep appreciation for the solidarity from Indonesians, especially Karawang's community, toward Gaza's crisis.

He emphasized the ambulance's critical role in medical treatment and disease prevention, given the severe limitations on Gaza residents' healthcare facilities due to the ongoing emergency. ***
