RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Coastal neighborhoods in North Jakarta are on high alert following a rapid rise in water levels at the Pasar Ikan Sluice Gate early Tuesday morning. The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) officially elevated the floodgate's status to Level 2 (High Alert) as tidal conditions and overcast skies threaten the city's northern coastline.
As reported by Antara, the escalation began in the early hours of February 10, 2026, when water levels were initially recorded at 198 cm at 1 a.m. Jakarta time, placing the gate under Level 3 (Warning) status. However, within just one hour, the water surged to 210 cm, prompting authorities to trigger the Level 2 alarm.
In an official statement released via their X account, @BPBDJakarta, officials identified several high-risk areas including Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, and Kalibaru.
"Anticipate areas that are likely to be affected, which are Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, and Kalibaru," remarked BPBD in their official social media broadcast.
To ensure a swift response, the BPBD has disseminated the warning through social media platforms and coordinated directly with local subdistrict and village heads. While the coastal situation remains critical, other major water observation points, ranging from Katulampa and Depok to Manggarai and Pulo Gadung, remain stable at Level 4 (Normal).
Residents requiring emergency assistance are urged to contact the Jakarta Siaga call center at 112 as the agency continues to monitor the overcast weather conditions. (Annaila Azzahra/Bambang MBKA)
