RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The skyline of Surakarta’s healthcare sector is undergoing a profound transformation as Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) solidify their bilateral ties. This progress is driven by a strategic medical supply partnership for the Emirates-Indonesia Cardiology Hospital.
This collaboration has moved beyond mere infrastructure to focus on advanced clinical capabilities. The Health Ministry is now mandating the full-scale deployment of cutting-edge medical devices to transform the facility into a premier regional hub for specialized heart care.
During a site visit in Surakarta on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Health Minister, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, officially designated the hospital as a center of excellence for cardiovascular treatment. The Minister emphasized that the facility must transition away from conventional methods in favor of high-tech intervention.
"Complex but traditional? No. I want it upgraded to complex but sophisticated, because the equipment provided is already excellent," remarked Minister Sadikin in Surakarta, on Thursday, as quoted by Antara.
To ensure this technological leap is sustainable, the Minister is prioritizing a mentorship system to bolster the capacity of local medical personnel, ensuring that the quality of care remains world-class.
This human resource development is being spearheaded by RSUP Dr. Sardjito, the appointed mentoring institution. Eniarti, the President Director of RSUP Dr. Sardjito, confirmed that a five-year assistance program is currently underway.
"We are conducting mentorship for five years. The goal is to ensure human resource readiness so that the knowledge transfer process can run optimally in cardiac services," she explained.
This institutional support is mirrored by international commitment, as UAE Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem AlDhaheri, reaffirmed his country’s dedication to the project.
"The UAE is always ready to provide support to our sister nation, the Republic of Indonesia," AlDhaheri remarked, adding that the UAE administration is currently reviewing additional medical supplies to guarantee professional and long-term operations.
Local leadership has hailed the hospital as a literal lifesaver for the region. Surakarta Mayor, Respati Achmad Ardianto, pointed out that the facility is a vital solution to the "golden period" required in cardiac emergencies.
"The existence of this hospital is crucial, considering that heart attack management requires a fast response within a two to six-hour window," noted the Mayor.
By integrating the resources of the Indonesian Health Ministry, the Surakarta City Administration, and the UAE, the hospital is projected to significantly shorten the previously lengthy referral chain for heart patients.
Ultimately, the Emirates-Indonesia Cardiology Hospital is envisioned as a national blueprint for transforming regional cardiovascular services while maintaining a standard of excellence that rivals international facilities. ***
